Jeremy and I are both doctoral students, and we've each gained so much from our studies together. I believe that everything we've discussed will help me offer meaning and inspiration to my patients, who will often be feeling hopeless as they fight cancer.
Chaya met me when I was still in college, living with my non-Jewish boyfriend. After learning together for four years, she surprised me at my Jewish wedding!
Experiencing Chanukah for the first time was incredible!
(Quenton is an ordained Anglican minister and chaplain in the Canadian armed forces. He was told that he is Jewish by his dying grandmother. One year later, an ad for Partners in Torah popped up in his feed, and he saw that as a message from his grandmother.)
We have learned together for over 10 years, through simchas and life cycles, health crises, sadness, and sharing our family's trajectories as our kids grow into adulthood. Jobs changed, children got married; COVID hit, but what remained constant and a source of stability is our learning.
Partners In Torah has made a great impact on our community. We are isolated... like a small island in the middle of the sea. Partners In Torah connected us with Rabbi Landy who gave all his heart to our community. We have gained a lot from him. Now we feel stronger than before... everything has changed.
Freda inspires me to grow in all situations. I am in awe of her strength and she is my inspiration... Recently, I hosted one of her Sheva Brachot. It was so meaningful to be able to celebrate this milestone with her!
I signed up for Partners in Torah after my Birthright trip, not really knowing what to expect. Through our learning, I was reminded of stories, ideas, culture, and traditions that I had not thought about since my days at Sunday school.
Laurie opened her home to me and my family for countless Shabbats, advised me on creating a Jewish home for my children, and included me in family milestones. Every mitzvah I do, every mitzvah my family does, is because of what she's taught me.
The entire week I'm knee-deep in running my esports business. Then comes Friday, the highlight of the week. It's not because I'm excited for the weekend, it's because for 6 years straight, I'm learning with my Partner in Torah, and the break reminds me of what's really important.
Shifra is an extraordinary teacher who is also so accessible and kind. Our learning gives us strength during challenging times as well as enhancing our times of joy. I am so grateful to have found a true friend in my Partner in Torah!
Far from this being a teacher-student relationship, Jordan has presented me with very inquisitive questions and taught me so much as well. We've become great friends, and it was so special to have him there to celebrate with me at my wedding.
Well, the fact is that I CAN read Hebrew now, and that is an amazing thing!
